The pipes are just as beautiful as they sound, crafted from raw materials with meticulous care. Starting with sheets of tin and lead cast to precise specifications, each pipe is hand-cut to ensure it meets the specific requirements for each organ. This attention to detail ensures not only a stunning visual presence but also an unparalleled auditory experience.
The Organ installed in January and February of 2017 is an impressive two-manual and pedal, 18-stop, 21-rank instrument. Its inaugural recital was performed by the renowned concert organist Chelsea Chen on March 7, 2017. Subsequently, the organ was dedicated at services on March 19, 2017, featuring the Siesta Key Chapel Choir, the chapel organist, and a brass quintet composed of the principal brass players from the Sarasota Orchestra.
The Schantz Organ Company, established in 1873 by A. J. Tschantz (later Schantz), is the oldest and largest American pipe organ builder still managed by the founding family. Initially building pipe organs for home use, Schantz soon expanded to constructing organs for churches. Today, the fourth generation of the Schantz family runs the company. Based in Orrville, Ohio, since 1901, the company has undergone several expansions, including the addition of a three-story assembly room in 1993 to meet increasing demands.
