Adult Christian Education (ACE)

Stimulate your mind ...

At The Chapel we are committed to providing an ongoing program and weekly experience of quality Adult Christian Education that is both Biblically sound and intellectually stimulating.

With the dual focus of both equipping attendees with an understanding of God's word (Foundations Classes) and practical methods of applying and communicating God's truth in all areas of life (Life Applications Classes), The Chapel's ACE programming is intended to contribute to the spiritual growth of Chapel members (edification) while also serving as outreach to the Sarasota community (evangelism).

Throughout most of the year, multiple classes with interesting topics will be available each Sunday led by thoughtful, informed and dynamic speakers sharing the common goal of glorifying God through each class experience.

Currently, the Adult Christian Education takes place at 9 a.m. in fellowship hall.
LATE-BREAKING NEWS
for Sunday June 25th at 9 a.m.

The Adult Class will interact with the Award Winning short film Reflection – written and directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru.  Reflection is a deeply moving film drawn from the true story of a 12-year-old’s battle with bone cancer.  The theological implications are obvious as we watch Athena and her father deal with the unavoidable questions and pains of such a challenge.   After hearing the story of Athena Orchard, Puja realized:

“Every one of us is caught up in our own little universe that we built for ourselves.  Our petty problems, our egos, the flaws we find in others, make us not even look at a person with different eyes.  But when this little universe of ours is taken away from us we realize how each person who’s a part of it is so important, and we all share the same battles that we don’t know how to fight.  She changes hundreds around her by conveying the importance of these simple things in life that we take for granted.”

Puja is well known here at the Chapel for her creation of our Pipe Organ documentary and her current efforts to create a documentary of our new Path.  A recent graduate of Ringling College of Art & Design, Puja won Best Picture, Best Director and Best Sound at the highly competitive Ringling Film Awards.  About 25 Chapel members were there to cheer her on.

Puja has been accepted at two top of the line graduate schools to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Film Directing (Univ. of Southern Calif and Chapman University). Tuition alone at USC is $75,000 a year; Chapman’s annual tuition is $60,000, one-third of which would be covered by a Fellowship grant.  Her placement depends on proving she can pay the uncovered amount.  If not, she loses her place.   As a result, Puja has opened a “GoFundMe” account for those who want to invest in her professional development.
